Ambitious Strategy Launch

We are proud to unveil our ambitious new Stargazing Strategy which is centred around our commitment to tackle child poverty, support lone parents and vulnerable families and be change-makers on behalf of our community.

We have developed a new Strategy that we are excited to share with you- Thinking about where we are now, and where we’d like to be. We developed immediate priorities which we have already begun to action and longer-term goals to increase the impact and stability of the organisation.

Throughout Stargazing journey last year we reimagined our values, and identified the qualities which will underpin our work on a daily basis. We will be courageous in our approach, connected to our community, support people to flourish and always be genuine.

Our approach will continue to be centred around delivering high quality family support services to lone parents and families in need locally, but we will grow our impact with a more purposeful focus on the systemic changes needed to create better todays and brighter tomorrows for lone parents and families in need.

The new strategy purposefully focuses on delivering five Manifesto Commitments in the coming years where we want to see transformational change to support families and the next generation:

(1)     Multi-Year Funding for Voluntary Sector

(2)     Lone Parent Positive Workplaces

(3)     Transforming Child Maintenance

(4)     Improving Housing for Families

(5)     Cost of the School Day.

These are areas that touch the lives of many families in Fife and have a disproportionate impact on the families we meet.

“This new strategy reflects our commitment to continuing to provide vital support to families in Fife to ensure children and young people can flourish. Poverty and trauma are the common threads connecting families we work with, and a recent snapshot survey told us that 74% of families were surviving below low-income thresholds and 2/3 had experienced trauma. By focusing on the systemic challenges facing families we will have a greater impact. It is critical that we not only deliver services to meet the needs of families, but we also shift some of our focus to transforming the systems that hold families stuck in place. We will be relentless in our pursuit of creating better todays and brighter tomorrows for lone parents and families in need. It is a really exciting time for us as we might be a small grassroots charity but we have big ambitions to be change-makers in Scotland.” Laura Millar CEO

As part of the launch we will be flooding our social media channels, sharing a press release, hosting a stand at The Gathering and inviting you to join us in delivering the ambitions of the Stargazing Strategy. Watch this space!
