Early Years Collective

Supporting vulnerable families to give their children the best possible start in life through early intervention, a holistic whole family approach and partnership working.

This service is focused on prevention and support for families with young children (0-8 years) where there are indicators of vulnerability that if not addressed will lead to a breakdown, crisis, and statutory measures. A key driver is for children to remain within their family and community where it is safe to do so.

Our Early Years Team work alongside Home-Start and The Cottage Family Centre to deliver a coordinated approach in Fife.

In Partnership with Starcatchers where we offer a specialised early intervention service that responds to the specific needs of young parents with the aim to prevent them reaching crisis point. Our approach is strength-based and centred around building trusting relationships. 1:1 support from a Fife Gingerbread worker and the arts-based group from Starcatchers enables a rounded provision that supports parents to improve mental health, confidence, relationship skills, employability skills, peer support networks and parental skills.

Who will we support?

  •  Family Workers and Young Parent Workers offering holistic whole family support to vulnerable families with young children.

  • Families will benefit from working collaboratively with workers, which involves together identifying strengths and vulnerability and then collaboratively creating an action plan.

  • Families will receive one to one support, group work and connections to mainstream & community provision.

 What will we do?

  • We will support families with children aged 0-8 years one to one in their own home with a focus of children growing and flourishing.

  • Support parents to ensure that they can provide a safe and nurturing home environment.

  • Genuinely work with families to support young parents in areas such as mental wellbeing, attachment, play and child development.

  • A Dad’s Worker will work with fathers to help them to have courage and remain connected with their child.

  • Workers and Volunteers will create opportunities in local communities to connect families with others to create friendships and share experiences - friendly space for families to grow, learn and play together.

  • Family Learning Opportunities will be available for parents to work towards their own aspirations.
